History

At CP Riverside School, our KS3 History curriculum aims to inspire curiosity about the past and develop critical thinking skills. We believe that understanding history is essential for students to make sense of the present and engage thoughtfully with the future. Our aim is to foster a love for history by encouraging students to explore diverse historical
narratives and develop a passion for learning about different cultures, societies, and time periods. Students will develop critical thinking skills by equipping them with the ability to analyse sources, evaluate evidence, and construct well-reasoned arguments. This includes understanding bias, perspective, and the complexities of historical interpretation. Studying History will also incite a student’s appreciation for the diverse experiences of individuals and communities throughout time. Students make connections between historical events and contemporary issues, emphasising the relevance of history in understanding current societal challenges.
