COMMUNICATION
WITH FAMILIES
Keeping our families up to date with their child's academic and personal progress is important to everyone.

We believe that strong communication between school and home is an important part of supporting every young person at CP Riverside School. We aim to keep families regularly informed about their child’s progress, attendance, behaviour and opportunities, and to make it easy for families to contact us when they need support.
How we communicate with families
Class Charts
Class Charts is our preferred method of communication between school and home for general communication and behaviour that does not require a more personal or formal approach. All families should have a Class Charts login code. Please make sure you can access your account, as this is also where we will share frequent announcements about upcoming MemEx opportunities for your child and family events.
You will also be able to view your child’s attendance using the Class Charts App.
Please ensure notifications are turned on so you do not miss important updates. If you do not have a login code, please contact the school.
Emails, text messages and WhatsApp
Email will be our main method of formal communication, such as for letters and school reports. Emails will be sent to the email address you have provided to the school, so please ensure that your contact details are kept up to date.
We may also use text messages to share information or reminders. For urgent matters, a member of staff will contact you by telephone. If we are unable to reach you, we will leave a voicemail or, where appropriate, send a text message.
Your child’s Coach and other members of staff may also contact you to discuss your child’s progress, celebrate achievements or share information that will help you support your child.
Arbor
The Arbor Parent App is an additional place to check your child’s attendance each day. Please use the app to monitor your child’s attendance.
Commissioning schools are also able to access your child’s live attendance data each day through a secure web link.
Keeping up to date
Our Family Handbook contains important information about school routines, expectations, communication and the support available to families. We recommend that all families refer to the handbook regularly.
You can also use the Calendar function on our school website to keep up to date with important dates, events, meetings, and other activities at CP Riverside School.
Reports and parents’ evenings
School reports are sent six times each academic year and include your child’s latest academic results and attitude to learning grade. Reports issued in February and at the end of the academic year will also include comments from teachers and your child’s Coach. These reports are also shared with your child’s commissioning school or authority.
Parents’ evenings are held twice each academic year. These provide an opportunity for parents and carers to meet with their child’s teachers and Coach to discuss academic progress, attendance and attitudes to learning.
Keeping your contact details up to date
It is important that we have accurate contact information for every family. Please contact the school if your email address, telephone number or other contact details change.
If you need to contact us, please use the form on our Contact Us page, call the school on 0115 986 4098, email office@cpriverside.co.uk, or contact your child’s Coach.
